The Rosenbergs |
In 1953 Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were the first American citizens to be executed for conspiracy to commit espionage. They were found guilty of passing secrets to the Soviets regarding America's nuclear bomb. It was big news at that time and the story is still controversial. Jump forward to the year 2010. The person now giving away America's secrets (not even selling them) is sitting in the White House. Thanks to Wikileaks we know that Obama gave the Soviets sensitive information regarding Britain's nuclear arms program--much of which is built right here in the United States. Why would he do this? In order to obtain their compliance with the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START). It was a case of "I'll show you mine, if you'll show me yours." We, and our best ally--England, lost ground. And what did the Soviets lose? Absolutely nothing. Not to mention--the rest of the world now knows if you do business with the United States they'll sell you out at the drop of a hat! Why undermine our alliance with England?

Thanks to my good buddy M.A. for the "heads up" on this story!
